Petra Ernyei hit the big stage aged only 17 – at a jazz festival in San Francisco, together with the Jazzphonic Orchestra, led by her father.

A well-known banjo player, he played with the best Czech musicians and his daughter grew up surrounded by jazz. She was also greatly influenced by Pavel Klikar, leader of the Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra, in which she was a soloist for three years and took part in the recordings of the album Walking and Swinging. This is where she met Marek Rejhon, with whom she still collaborates. In 1999 Petra recorded her first album “Who Loves You”, a nostalgic look to the swing music of the 1930s. She has taken part in various jazz festivals in Great Britain, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary. Her meeting with Jakub Safra superb pianist and art director of the Melody Makers orchestra, led to the formation of the JSQuartet. With this formation Petra performed the songs of jazz greats like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. “Nice Work If You Can Get It” is the album they recorded in 2002. Petra also sings with Jan Matou?ek’s Prague Swing Orchestra. New songs, superb arrangements, 13 swingers – in the last three years the orchestra has been playing at Prague’s “Gong Theatre” every Wednesday.
